Official Statement

Dear friends of Canadian comparative literature:

The Executive of the Canadian Comparative Literature Association (CCLA) have been moved to express our commitment to ensuring fair treatment in the matter of Shelby McPhee, a member of the Black Canadian Studies Association (BCSA) who was racially profiled at UBC during Congress 2019. Racially motivated harassment, and harassment of any kind, is totally unacceptable in our community, and therefore we join others in calling on the Federation to judiciously follow up on this incident.
