Call for Papers: Anita Rau Badami

We invite scholarly articles on Anita Rau Badami’s writing, both fiction and non-fiction, for a book collection on her work to be published through the Guernica Writers’ Series (www.guernicaeditions.com)

The Guernica Writers’ Series has historically been focused on providing Canadian writers, namely ethno-cultural writers, with scholarly attention.  In many cases this series has produced the first, if not the only, scholarly collection on such well known writers as Drew Hayden Taylor, Joy Kogawa, Pier Giorgio Di Cicco, George Elliott Clarke, Maria Campbell and many more.

Badami’s work to date includes four novels, in addition to a body of free-lance journalistic writing.  Fittingly, as a South Asian Canadian writer, Anita Rau Badami will soon be added to the list of accomplished Canadian writers who have been the subject of scholarly collections by Guernica.

If you are interested in contributing an article on any aspect of Badami’s work, please submit an abstract and bio for initial review by August 31st, 2013.  After conditional acceptance, full-length articles are due March 1, 2014.

Deadlines as follows:

August 31, 2013:  300-word abstract plus a 50-100 word bio

March 1, 2014: 15-20 page article (approx. 6000 word max)

Please submit all inquiries and proposals to both Dr. Sheena Wilson and Dr. Asma Sayed.:  sheena.wilson@ualberta.ca; asayed@ualberta.ca
