Abstract

"The Miscellanea was produced for an audience confident enough in Latin to be able to appreciate the breadth and sensitivity of [Politian's] command of the language, and to tolerate his more flamboyant displays of learning. This audience was, on the other hand, not quite so accomplished in Greek, with a small number of exceptions."
