Notice of the International Conference on the Folk Literature Tradition in World Literature

Folk literature is an inexhaustible treasure trove of source materials for literary creation, and represents an indispensable part of world literature. Chinese folk literature is correspondingly an important cultural heritage in Chinese civilization. Largely because of this, at the opening ceremony of the 11th National Congress of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the 10th National Congress of China Writers Association, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Xi Jinping remarks that it is important to carry on and expand the tradition of Chinese folk literature and arts, create new styles and forms of literature and art and develop a distinct Chinese style in world literary and artistic areas. Therefore, Association for the Study of Arab Literature of China Association of Foreign Literature, School of Asian and African Studies of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), Institute of Literary Studies (SISU), Shanghai Comparative Literature Association, and the editorial office of Comparative Literature in China (journal) will be hosting The International Conference on the Folk Literature Tradition in World Literature (conference dates: June 11-12, 2022).
