University of Alberta’s 9th Annual Graduate Conference in Comparative Literature
ALTERNATIVE VOICES:
TRANS-VERSING GENRES AND FORMS ACROSS DISCIPLINES

With the full swing of the critical turn in the Humanites and Social Sciences, which was fueled by numerous trends such as post-structuralism, post-colonialism, and Critical Theory, we are at a defining historical moment where alternative voices in theory, exegesis, and praxis can provide a way out of the current philosophical impasse that is embarrassing Enlightenment thought. This critical turn has provided multi-disciplinary disciplines such as Comparative Literature with a unique position to contemplate its implication in literature and art. Thus, for the 9th Annual Graduate Conference in Comparative Literature at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, University of Alberta, we invite presentations that reflect on Alternative Voices in literature and art. Conference themes include, but are not limited to
