Abstract
Discusses "how the problematic representation of 'the fundamentalist' and 'fundamentalism'" in Tahar Ben Jelloun's novels "La nuit sacrée" and "L'enfant de sable" "leads necessarily to the activation of a number of other stereotypes regarding 'Islam', 'the Arab', and the 'victimized-Third-World-woman'."
