A Tale of Three Cities: Diasporic Writing on the Singapore/Malaysian Homeland in Sydney and Vancouver

Abstract

Examines the first novels of Hsu-ming Teo, an academic historian in Sydney, and Lydia Kwa, a clinical psychologist in Vancouver. Teo's "Love and Vertigo" is set in Australia, and Kwa's "This Place Called Absence" unfolds in Canada, but both authors write on women from the Singapore/Malaysian homeland who function in a multicultural space.
