ACLA seminar submisions portal is now live!

The ACLA seminar submissions portal is now live and ready to accept proposals for seminars at our upcoming conference in Cambridge MA, March 17-20, 2016. The portal can be found at

Our process for submitting seminars and papers has changed, and I encourage you to read the information below to learn more.

The deadline for seminar submissions will be August 31. I encourage all our members to check the listings of proposed seminars regularly over the summer, and to be in touch with seminar organizers about potential participation.

Once all seminars proposals have been submitted, paper submissions will open on Sept. 1 and will run through Sept. 23. All seminars will have open calls for papers at this stage, and each member or prospective member may submit one paper proposal to the single seminar of their choice during these three weeks. I encourage you to discuss participation with any seminar that interests you, but again each individual may submit one paper to one seminar.

Once paper submissions close on Sept. 23, seminar organizers will have until Sept. 30 to select the papers they would like to see in their seminar. At that point, seminars will be reviewed by the program committee for inclusion in the conference program.

A reminder that you do not have to be a member of the ACLA to propose a seminar, or to submit a paper proposal to a seminar. You do, however, need to be a member and to register for the conference if you wish to present a paper, or moderate a seminar, at the conference itself.

It is our hope as an organization that this revised process will continue to offer an open and transparent process for presenters to work with seminar organizers, while improving seminar quality and cohesion, and increasing administrative efficiency. Please do be in touch via if you have any further questions about our new process, and we look forward to welcoming you to Cambridge in March!

Take care,
Alexander Beecroft,
Secretary-Treasurer, ACLA
